The main objective of the M.Tech in CB is to train students to become professionals for high-end jobs and to introduce them into cutting-edge research at the interface of biological sciences and computer science. The program is designed to allow rigorous pursuit of both the disciplines to bridge the gap between diverse biological streams, starting from biological netweorks to molecular biology, to computational fields including algorithm development, high performance computing etc. The IIITD program emphasizes multidisciplinary competency, interdisciplinary collaboration between industry and academia and offers a customizable curriculum that consists of four semesters of didactic course work tailored to each student’s background and interests and dissertation research supervised by CB faculty mentors.
Students completing the program will be highly competent and knowledgeable in the interdisciplinary area of computational biology that is in great demand in both academic and biotech industry.
Coursework in this program will strive for rigorous training in theoretical and computational approaches (for solving biological problems) and includes algorithms and programming, fundamentals of biology, genetics and bioinformatics, systems and synthetic biology, mathematical modeling, structural bioinformatics, stochastic simulations, statistical data analysis and biophysics. Some advanced and recent topics (such as computational neuroscience, computational immunology, parallel computing, single cell biology and single cell genomics, in silico drug design, personalized medicine) will be covered in elective courses. Training in practical problems will be provided through summer internship and thesis work.

1. B.Tech/BE in CS/IT/Math-and-Computing

4. MSc. (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics , Computer Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical sciences)
For Point 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 the applicants must have done the following either during their qualifying degree or from recognized institution / online education portal:
• at least one computer programming course, and
• at least two Mathematics courses
All applicants must have CGPA of at least 6.5 out of 10 or 65% in qualifying exam. The applicant must have at least 60% in all previous degrees including 10+2. Applicants who do not satisfy the above criteria will not be able to submit the application form.
IIIT-Delhi provides relaxation to SC, ST, OBC, PwD and CW category candidates. Specifically, candidates under these categories have CGPA of at least 6.0 out of 10 or 60%. They must have at least 55% in all previous degree including 10+2.
While valid GATE/GPAT/CSIR-NET is not mandatory, applicants having any one of these will be given additional weightage.
Note: Candidates who are appearing in the final examination are also eligible to apply. They are required to give their last CGPA/aggregate percentage of marks.
Students admitted are eligible to avail DBT fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month.

IIIT-D has truly world class, campus-wide state of the art information technology tools that are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of various academic programs in the institute. This includes fast, reliable and rugged computer network of more than 500 Nodes, 10 gigabit fiber backbone network. IIITD also has a robust HPC (High Performance Computing) system that comprises of a modular Blade Chassis with 4 blades populated at present. A separate rack server for GPU processing with Nvidia Tesla K20 GPU card of 2496 Cuda cores has also been installed. All servers are connected using 10G interconnect and are also connected to SAN storage. The entire HPC setup currently has 92 CPU Cores and 441 GB RAM with a theoretical TFLOP rating of 1.79.
